Geographies of the soul
Painter above all, Jean-Pierre Formica’s work is made of fragments and repetition, such as wihin the layers of his paper cut paintings. Since the 1970s, his inspiration takes roots in the Mediterranean culture and bullfighting, and works on memory, trace, impression, accumulation, sedimentation, a technique he uses for his famous salt sculptures. Born in 1946 in Uchaud, France. He enow lives and works between Paris, Arles and Aigues Mortes. Graduated from form the School of Fine Arts in Paris and Montpellier, he was a Visual Arts teacher at the Mational School of Architecture Paris-Val de Seine.
