John R. Thompson

Born in Schenectady, New York, 1947. Thompson is an artist who conceives creation from three different points of view that run parallel to his artistic production and which has given him an unusual and big creative liberty: as the instigator of the exhibition space ‘108ag’ projects on Colonia Juarez in Mexico City; as a colector with an artist’s eyes and last but not least, as curator. It is impossible to disconnect his work from these activities. Thompson is, paraphrasing his latest exhibition title, ‘Forging connections’ between his artistic work, curatorship and his original contemporary art collection.
He is an artist, completed by his enigmatic and heterodox art pieces, his teaching career at the prestigious Parsons School of Design and as one of the founders of Lake Placid School of Art in New York.
