José Hernández Luna

He graduated from the ESAY (Superior Art School of Yucatan). He was selected in the South Zone Visual Arts Contest FORCAZ (2018) and as “Emerging Visual Artist” for ISSSTE CULTURA INTERFAZ (2015). He won the “Municipal Fund for the Visual Arts” (2017)and received an Excellence in Art grant from the IBECEY (2010-2014). His work focuses mainly in sculpture and installation. His methodologies address problems and reflections on the disuse and deterioration of things, collective memory and commodified nostalgia. Some of his main exhibitions include the MACAY, Merida, Yucatan (2018), South Area Plastic Movement (2018-2019) in different venues of Campeche, Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Veracruz and Yucatan, the Great Museum of the Mayan World (2013), Mérida, Yucatán, the Center for Training and Production of Visual Arts La Arrocera , Campeche (2011), World Earth Day, Mérida Yucatán (2011), and COP-16, Cancún, Quintana Roo (2010).
