Kimiko Yoshida

Internationally renowned Japaneseartist exhibited for the first time in Merida, Yucatan. Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1963. After graduating from Tokyo College of Photography, in 1995 she attend the École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles, France. She now lives and works in Paris, France and Venice, Italy.

Her work calls for pertinent questions as to the role of women in modern society, and is strongly driven by feelings of transformation. Kimiko Yoshida often says : “Everybody tries to be unique, I try to be universal”.

Artista plástica de renombre internacional, Kimiko utiliza su propio cuerpo como el soporte de sus iconografías, obteniendo un sorprendente concepto plástico. A través de su obra, Yoshida cuestiona temas como la identidad, la nacionalidad o la universalidad. Sus fotografías, videos e instalaciones muestran una y otra vez su propio rostro transformado en diferentes mujeres. “Todo el mundo trata de ser único, yo quiero ser muchos y muchas, ser universal”.
